To be eligible for office, you must be a dues paying member of GTAC by September 24th, 2019, intend to remain at the University of Kansas for at least one year, and complete a steward training course. Nominations opened on August 26, 2019 and will close on September 26, 2019. Currently, each position has one candidate – any position with only one candidate will be elected by acclamation on September 26th, 2019. If multiple candidates are nominated, then elections will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 2019.
 
You can self-nominate or nominate other members by contacting a member of the Elections Committee with their name and the position for which they are being nominated. Remember that all nominees must be dues paying members of our union!

Why I Joined GTAC

In my time at the University of Kansas, the University of Kansas has undergone 2 massive budget cuts. In spring 2016, the university had to reduce its budget by $7 million to adjust for then Gov. Sam Brownback’s $30+ million cut to Kansas’s institutions of higher education and in spring 2018, the university—due to faulty budget calculations—had to cut $20 million from the budget. In my time at the University of Kansas, I have had the constitutional concealed carry policy allow firearms into my classroom. In my time at the University of Kansas, I have taught 500 students and mentored dozens of undergraduate students. And in my time at the University of Kansas, I have never been paid a livable wage. Continue reading “Why I Joined GTAC”
